CARINGTON-SMITH _ Elizabeth (Betty) Bernice (Stiles), 67, Truro NS, died Monday, December 26, 2005 at home. Born in Brookdale, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Clair and Margaret Stiles. Elizabeth grew up in Springhill, where she was very active in her teenage years in choir and other activities at St. Andrew's Wesley United Church. Elizabeth lived in Dartmouth, raising her family, from 1960 until 1980. She worked in the field of accounting, holding positions at several Metro companies, including CBCL. In 1980 she moved to Moose Jaw, SK. In 1983, she spent a year living in the Middle East while her husband was part of the United Nations peacekeeping force there. In 1984, Elizabeth returned to Canada, living in Barrie, ON, where she worked for a time at Printing Unlimited. In 1989 she moved to Tsawwassen, BC. Elizabeth returned to her native Nova Scotia in 2000, settling in Truro. Nana will lovingly be remembered for her amazing creativity, her sense of humor, and for all the wonderful family gatherings she hosted at her cottage in Caribou River. She is survived by sons Stephen Teal, Dartmouth; Andrew Teal (Amber), Redondo Beach, CA; daughter, Heather Teal, Truro; grandsons, Scott and Bradley Richards, Truro; brothers, David Stiles (Sheila), Duncan, BC; George Stiles (Bona), Springhill; Gordon Stiles (Donna), Scotsburn; sisters, Marilyn Reynolds (James), Springhill; Wilma Hahnen (James), Stellarton; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held 10 a.m. Thursday, December 29, at the Mattatall Funeral Home, Truro, with a reception to follow in the funeral home. A family graveside service will be held at Seaboard Cemetery, Caribou River. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to the IWK Children's Hospital, Halifax, or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
