Obit (1977) - Joseph Aylward MATTINSON

I don't think the following obituary has been posted before:

Sept. 29, 1977 Halifax Chronicle Herald:
OXFORD - Joseph Alyward Mattinson, 78, of Oxford, died Wednesday in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash.  Born in Beckwith, Cumberland County, he was the son of the late Vance and Eudora (Goodwin) Mattinson.  He taught school in Nova Scotia for a number of years and was employed with Cobequid Lumber Company, Oxford Junction until retirement in 1969.  He was a past-chancellor of Knights of Pythias Lodge 26, Oxford and was an adherent of Oxford United Baptist Church.  He is survived by his wife, the former Rosaline Allen, Port Howe; two daughters, Elaine (Mrs. Wassell Lewis), Moncton; Josephine (Mrs. Everett MacIsaac), Dartmouth; one son, Lawrence, Oxford; one sister, Nioma Lenihan, Brockton, Mass.; two brothers, William, Haverhill, Mass.; Warren, Brockton, Mass.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by four brothers, Eugene, Silas, Lester, and Lawrence; four sons, Leon, Sherman, and twin boys in infancy.  The body is at
Allen's Funeral Home, Oxford, where funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., Rev. Edgar Patriquin officiating.  Burial will be in Oxford Pine Grove cemetery.  Oxford Lodge 26 Knights of Pythias will hold a memorial service Friday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

OXFORD - Mrs. Joseph A. Mattinson, 83, Oxford, Cumberland County, died Wednesday in Gilbert's Rest Home, Oxford.  Born in Port Howe, daughter of the late William R. and Catherine (Smith) Allen.  She is survived by two daughters, Elaine (Mrs. Wassel Lewis), Moncton; and Josephine (Mrs. Everett MacIsaac), Dartmouth; a son, Lawrence G., Oxford; five sisters, Lulu O'Neill, Edmonton; Stella (Mrs. Harland King), Cookville, Ont.; Mrs. Mabel Naugler, Halifax; Mrs. Wavey Lutes, Moncton; and Ruby (Mrs. Richard (Richie) Simpson), Oxford; a brother, Carlyle William, Calgary; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.  She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A.; two sons, Leon and Sherman; twin sons, Peter and Paul, in infancy; two sisters, Flora and Clara; three brothers, Wallace, Lorne and Levi.  The body is in Allen Funeral Home, Oxford, where funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Edgar Patriquin officiating.  Burial
will be in Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery.
