I don't think the following obituary has been posted before:
March 11, 1965 Oxford Journal:
Pugwash - Following a period of failing health there passed away at North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Pugwash, on Friday, Feb. 26th, John D. Mattinson. Mr. Mattinson, who was in his 77th year, was the son of the late John Wesley Mattinson and Cynthia (Orchard) Mattinson of Conns Mills. Surviving are his wife, Edna, the former Edna Smith of Linden; three sisters, Ivey (Mrs. Alex. MacLeod) West Pugwash; Carrie, (Mrs. William Letcher), of Springhill, and Sadie (Mrs. Charles MacKay), Creston, B.C. He was predeceased several years ago by three brothers, Harold, Edwin and Hingley. The funeral service was held from Mundle's Funeral Parlors, Pugwash, on Sunday, Feb. 28th, at 2 P.M., with Rev. Ernest Breen officiating. Music was supplied by a mixed choir with Mrs. Charles Hollis as organist. Hymns sung were "Unto the Hills", "The Lord's My Shepherd" and a solo, "My Heavenly Father Watches Over Me", sung by Don Demings of Pugwash. The pallbearers
were Douglas Parker, Hughie Hunter, Warren Allen, Edward Reno, Norman Atkinson and Harvey Leard. Interment was in the Rockley Cemetery under the direction of Irving Mundle. The many floral tributes, memorial gifts, sympathy cards, monetary gifts and letters were evidence of the high regard in which the deceased was held.
Hope this helps someone,
Gerry
