Obit (1963) - James William MATTINSON

I don't think the following obituary has been posted before:

Oct. 10, 1963 Oxford Journal:
Following an illness of only one week James William Mattinson, of 230 Pope (sic) Ave., Toronto, Ont., passed away on Friday, Sept. 27th, at Toronto, at the age of 82 years.  Born at Mount Pleasant on Feb. 22, 1881, he was a son of the late Smith and Saraphine Mattinson.  Mr. Mattinson was for many years a resident of South Oxford and was well known in the Oxford area.  The family have lived in Toronto for several years.  He was an adherent of the Baptist Church.  On Aug. 20, 1918, he married Dolly Edith Miller of Oxford at Trenton, N.S., by whom he is survived.  Also surviving are three daughters, Ella Mae, 17, Kathleen Alberta MacLellan and Lavona Rose Blanchard, all of Toronto; eight sons, Donald Albert, Pearlie Guy, Robert William, Glendon Lamont, Lawson Chester and Lewis Smith, Toronto, Ont., Teddy Lawrence, of Trenton, N.S., and Dewey George of Oxford; also one sister, Mary C. (Mrs. Maynard) King, Oxford, and two brothers, Clinton Mattinson of
Oxford and George Mattinson of Toronto.  He is also survived by 39 grandchildren.  The funeral was held at Black's Funeral Home, Oxford on Tuesday, Oct. 1st, with the service being conducted by Rev. John W. Porter, pastor of Oxford United Church.  The hymns sung were "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me".  Burial took place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Oxford.  Six nephews of the deceased, Philip Rushton, Carman Rushton, Clinton Mattinson, Guy Mattinson, Herbert Mayne and William Mayne were pallbearers.  Many beautiful floral tributes testified to the wide friendship of the deceased, and were as follows ...
