May 16, 1946 Oxford Journal:
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Merton O. Seaman was saddened on Saturday morning by the death of their youngest son, Eugene. Although he had been ill for about six months his passing came as a shock to his friends and relatives. Eugene was 14 years of age and of a bright and loveable disposition and will be greatly missed by all his schoolmates and friends. Besides a sorrowing mother and father he is survived by two sisters, Flora (Mrs. John Deschetza) of Montreal and Aileen, nurse-in-training at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, N.S., also one brother, Lorimer, on the staff of the Bank of Nova Scotia, Oxford. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. L.B. Estabrooks, pastor of the Little River Baptist Church, of which the deceased was a member, who brought a comforting message to the bereaved family. The music was under the direction of Mrs. Wilfred Webb and hymns sung were "Good-night and Good-morning" and "Sometime We'll Understand". The
pallbearers were Lorimer Seaman, Jack Mattinson, Douglas Mattinson, Frank Brown, Norman Seaman, Donnie Smith, all being relatives and friends of the deceased. Mr. Frank Black of Oxford was funeral director. Burial took place in the Mansfield Cemetery. Floral tributes were as follows ...
Hope this helps someone,
Gerry
