I don't think the following obituary has been posted before:
Nov. 1, 1911 Amherst Daily News (received from Kathryn Jeffers):
Harold Lyman Mattinson
The death occurred at Conn's Mills on Oct. 26th, after a lingering illness of Harold, son of the late Wesley and Cynthia Mattinson, of this place. He was in the 26th year of his age. Mr. Mattinson had been in Boston for about two years and returned home in July of this year. Harold was a young man of exceptional intellectual ability and was a great lover of good literature. His death at such an early age and just when he was starting out on a useful career is sadly mourned by the hosts of friends he made everywhere. He had a very beautiful disposition and through the long weary days of suffering was never heard to murmur. Every comfort that willing hands and loving hearts could do was done to ease his suffering. Rev. W. I. Croft conducted the funeral service at the house and Rev. Mr. Watts at the grave. The remains were interred at Hansford beside those of his father and brothers. Mr. Mattinson was a beloved member of Crystal Wave
Oddfellows Lodge, Pugwash and was visited by the brothers of that Order, who by their kindly thoughtfulness and sympathy will never be forgotten by the widowed mother and other members of the family. The deceased is survived by his mother, three sisters and one brother, John. The sisters are Mrs. Alex. MacLeod, Mrs. W. Letcher, Springhill, and Miss Sadie at home. His memory is cherished by a large circle of friends and acquaintances whom we hope will meet him again "In the Morning."
"Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe from corroding care;
Safe from the world's temptations,
Sin cannot harm him there.
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast;
There by His love o'er shaded,
Sweetly his soul shall rest."
Hope this helps someone,
Gerry
