I don't think the following obituary has been posted before:
Aug. 5, 1965 Oxford Journal:
The many friends of Edmond Mattinson were saddened to hear of his sudden passing at his home on July 23rd. He was born in Mt. Pleasant 85 years ago, son of the late Francis and Nancy Mattinson, and was the last surviving member of his family. He was a life-long resident of Mt. Pleasant where he farmed until his retirement a few years ago. Besides his wife, the former Lily Simpson, he is survived by two daughters, Grace (Mrs. Robert Mixon) of Alsea [?], Oregon; Majorie [sic] (Mrs. Russell Cloney) Oxford, two sons Carl and Robert both of Mt. Pleasant, also eight grandchildren and one great grandson. The funeral service was held from Black's Funeral Home on Monday afternoon, July 25th at 2 P.M., conducted by Rev. Porter. The hymns sung by a mixed choir were: The 23rd Psalm and Abide With Me. Pallbearers were Albert Fahey, Herb Mayne, Richie Simpson, Lawrence Mattinson, Orland and Lester Fraser. Interment was in Birch Grove Cemetery, Mt.
Pleasant, with F.A. Black and Son as Funeral Directors. The beautiful floral offerings, contributions to the Cancer Society and All Saints Hospital fund were final tributes to the deceased showing the high esteem in which he was held by his many friends. The floral tributes were as follows ...
