Dec 27, 1922 Amherst Daily News (received from Kathryn Jeffers):
News of the death at Brockton, Mass. of D.A. Mattinson, formerly of Springhill and Thomson Station, was received here this morning by his sister Mrs. Harry Aitken, Havelock St.  The deceased had been in poor health for some time and in September decided to go to Brockton Mass. for further treatment.  An operation was performed and for a few weeks it was hoped that he would make a complete recovery.   The end came at an early hour this morning at the home of  his brother C.R. Mattinson in Brockton.  His wife and child predeceased him some years ago, and also his sister Mrs. C.M. Mattinson of Thomson Station in July of this year.  He is survived by his aged mother Mrs. Wm. Mattinson who resides here with her daughter and two sisters, Mrs. Purdy of Los Angeles and Mrs. Harry Aitken, Amherst and two brothers Beales in Brockton, Mass., and Blanchard, Attleboro, Mass.  The remains will be brought here tomorrow night (Thursday) leaving on Friday for
Pugwash Station thence to Wallace Bay for Interment which it is expected will take place on Saturday.  Further arrangements will be announced in the "News" tomorrow.

Hope this helps someone,
Gerry
