Obit (1951) - Charles Edward MATTINSON

I don't think the following obituary has been posted before:

April 30, 1951 Oxford Journal:
Many friends were saddened to learn of the passing of Charles Edward Mattinson on Tuesday night, Aug. 28, at about 7:20 p.m.  Mr. Mattinson had not been in good health for some time and entered the Amherst hospital on July 8th.  There is was learned that his condition was hopeless but he was able to return to Oxford, where he passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Melvin Dickie, as the result of a brain hemorrhage.  He was born at Mount Pleasant 56 years ago, a son of the late T. Smith Mattinson and resided there all his life until moving to Oxford three years ago.  Always cheerful and witty, he had many friends who sympathize with the family in their bereavement.  Twenty-nine years ago he married Annie Levita Mills of Mt. Pleasant, by whom he is survived.  Also surviving are six children, Clinton, Sadie (Mrs. Melvin Dickie), Amy (Mrs. Theodore Terris), Guy and Charles all of Oxford, and Greta (Mrs. John Stultz) of Amherst; and three
brothers, Clinton, James and George of Oxford, and two sisters, Mrs. Maynard King of Oxford and Mrs. Rebecca Mayne of River Philip.  There are eleven grandchildren.  The funeral will be held from Black's Funeral Home this afternoon at 2 o'clock with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

NOTE:  His N.S. Marriage Registration lists him as Charles Avard Mattinson.

Hope this helps someone,
Gerry
