Susan (Manion) MacDonald 1949-2012
Susan (Manion) MacDonald, age 63 of Amherst, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Ottawa, she was a daughter of the late James and Joan (Haigh) Manion. Susan worked at Northern Telecom in Amherst for 19 years, and later as an assistant to Bill Casey MP. In 2002, she was diagnosed with cancer, which lead her to discover a passion for natural health. As a way to help other's with cancer and various illnesses Susan authored her book "BALANCE Natures Way To Heal Your Body", which became a Canadian Best Seller. She went on to found JTW Natural Health Guidance Center along with her husband James. Susan was an active volunteer in Cumberland County, donating her time to the Conservative Party of Nova Scotia, her involvement in the election campaigns of both MPs and MLAs, the Cumberland YMCA, the Telephone Pioneers, and serving on the S.O.A.R. Board. Susan will be remembered
for living her life to the fullest and helping others do the same. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Susan will be sadly missed by her husband, James "Jim" MacDonald; her children, Tammy Rogers, Charlene (Darren Brown) MacDonald, and Dan (Stacy) MacDonald all of Amherst; grandchildren, Benji, Katt, Adam, Carl, Gia, Brady and Noah; brothers, Mike (Lynn) and Bobby (Ruth), both of Ottawa; sisters, Terry (Norm) Fisher of Winnipeg, Cathy (Mike) LaLonde of Ottawa, and Margaret (Cleyle Alexandre) Manion of Amherst; a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law; as well as several nieces, nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Patsy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (667-9777). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish, Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Charles-Nativity
