OBITUARY: Irene Avis Grant Bentley
Irene Avis Grant Bentley, 77, of 1886 Seldon Street, Halifax, died Wednesday
in Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of
the late Hugh S. and Minnie (Hubley) Bentley [sic, Grant]. She owned and
operated her own photo finishing business, Irene's Studio in Halifax for
more then eight years. She was a dental nurse for the late Dr. H.L. Daniel
in Truro, Dr. F.C. Fennell in Halifax, and the federal government at
Stadacona, later transferred to Camp Hill Hospital, retiring in 1970. She
was a provincial champion bowler, captain of the Royals in 1939 for Conn and
Martel bowling alleys. She is survived by two daughters, Avis (Mrs. James A.
Chalmers), Hamilton, Ont.; and Ruth "Dolly" (Mrs. Alan G. Lowe), Toronto,
Ont.; three brothers, Hugh, Toronto; Donald and Harold, both of Truro; seven
grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her
husband, Seaman B. Bentley; a sister, Ruth; and a brother, Arthur. The body
is in Mattatall's Funeral Home, Truro. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in
Emmanuel Baptist Church, Truro, Rev. Brent Robinson officiating, with burial
in Robie Street Cemetery, Truro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made
to any charity.

Note: I have her divorced from her husband in 1943. No mention of a son,
James as referred to in Seaman's obit.

OBITUARY: S.B. Bentley
Truro - Seaman Brazil Bentley, 66, well known commercial photographer here
died Monday in Spartonburg, S.C. Mr. Bentley was a son of the late Captain
and Mrs. George Bentley, and was a native of Fox River, Cumberland County.
He lived most of his life in Truro. He is survived by two daughters, Avis
(Mrs. John Plomondon), Campbellton, N.B.; Ruth (Mrs. Alan Lowe), Armdale;
one son, James, Toronto; one brother, John, Truro; four sisters, Mrs. H.L.
Shaw, Campo, Calif.; Mrs. M. Patterson, Ashland, Mass.; Mrs. H.L. Murray,
Spartonburg, S.C.; Mrs. Edwin Ogilvie, Truro. Funeral service will be held
in the Mattatall's Funeral Home here at a time to be announced.
