Daniel Boyd Ferguson (February 9, 1946 - September 3, 2012)
Ferguson, Daniel Boyd - 66, Wallace Station, Cumberland Co., passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, in Middleboro. Born in Oxford, he was a son of the late John George and Elsie (Swan) Ferguson. Danny had worked as a meteorologist technician before moving back to Nova Scotia to pursue his dream of farming. He was an active member of Wallace Lodge No.76 AF&AM; Cedar Chapter No.3,OES; St. John’s United Church, Wallace; Northumberlamb; North Nova Woodlot Owner's Association; Farmer’s with Disabilities; and the Cumberland Regional Health Authority. He was a former member of the Nova Scotia Trucker's Association; a former choir member of St. John’s United Church; the Tatamagouche Area Singers as well as several other groups. Surviving are his wife, Pauline (Mitchell) Ferguson; daughters, Christine Gail Ferguson; Cheryl Annette Ferguson, both of Wallace Station; sons, Ewan Mitchell (Winnie) Ferguson, Blockhouse; Colin Daniel Ferguson, Seoul, Korea;
grandchildren, Gavyn, Danielle and Mitchell; sister, Ann (Gerald) Wilson, Wentworth; brothers, Jack (Vivian) Ferguson, The Falls; Ralph (Jean) Ferguson, Malagash; sister-in-law, Donna Ferguson, Bayhead; aunt, Izzy Swan, Halifax; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Douglas Ferguson; brother-in-law, David Mitchell. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, in Mundle’s Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash, with a Masonic Service at 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, in St. John’s United Church, Wallace. Rev. Connie McNamara officiating. Burial in the Riverside Cemetery, Wallace River. Donations in memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation; The North Cumberland Community Health Foundation or any charity. Brother Douglas:
FERGUSON, Douglas Wren - 74, passed away May 23, 2009, at his home in Bayhead, Colchester Co. Born in Oxford, August 21, 1934, he was a son of the late John George and Elsie (Swan) Ferguson. Doug was a member of Bayhead Union Church, Maritime Province Harness Racing Commission and Standardbred Canada Association. Heavily involved with harness horse racing, Doug bred, raised, trained and raced many horses over the years. One of Doug's proudest moments in his harness racing career was winning the Gold Cup and Saucer with Kilkerran Ingle. Doug was quick to smile and loved hearing or telling a good story as well as enjoying a good prank. Left to mourn are his wife, Donna (Drake) and their children, Heather (Steven Bowes), Ellen (Darren) Todd, Barrie (Kim), Martha (George) Underwood, Andrew (Shelley Whidden) and Janet (John) Legge, as well as his birth daughter, Linda (Dave) Kay; their beautiful grandchildren, Arathana, Elliot, Piper, Amy, Taylor, Simone,
Kelsey, Jennie, Jesse, Caelan, Delaney, Logan, Caeden and Foster. He also leaves his sister, Anne (Gerald) Wilson; brothers, Jack, Ralph (Jean) and Danny (Pauline); Aunt Izzy, many nieces and nephews, cousins; his girls, Janet and Sue, as well as many special friends at home and Truro Raceway. Visitation is in family home, 828 Logan Rd., Bayhead, from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 27. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 28, in Bayhead Union Church. By request, family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Bayhead Union Church or any charity. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche (657-3288).
