James Bernard Noiles

Springhill - Word has been received here of the death of James
Bernard Noiles at Mercer Hospital in Trenton, N.J. on Tuesday,
after an illness of six months. He was 59.
Born in Springhill, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs Thomas
H. Noiles.
After completing his education, he secured employment with the
Cumberland Railway and Coal Company in Springhill. Interested
in an army career he was granted a commission with the rank of
Lieutenant in the militia at Halifax in 1929.
In 1939 he went on active service with the Princess Louise Fusiliers
and was given command of the Casualty Company in the transit depot
at Windsor. He was awarded the Canadian Proficiency decoration.
After his army service he went to the United States where he worked
as a refrigerator and air conditioning engineer. He was a member of the
Engineering Society of America.
Surviving besides his wife, the former Pearl Salter, of Westville, are:
one sister, Mrs Marguerite Reid; three brothers, William P., Arthur
and Neil, all of Springhill.
The body will arrive in Springhill today and will rest at the home of
his brother Neil, 26 Herritt Road. Requiem Mass will be held Saturday
at 8:30 am from St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Springhill with
Monseignor Rt Rev P.J. Buchanan officiating. Interment will be in
North Street cemetery.
