L.A.C. Ray HERRETT and his wife and two children returned home last week after spending four
years in France. They are spending a month's leave with his mother, Mrs. Guy Herrett, River
Philip, and her father Mr. Merl Hayes, Springhill. Mr. Herret will be stationed with the
R.C.A.F. at Summerside, PEI.

Milford (Mutt) WOOD of Oxford was one of 18 Nova Scotia marksmen who qualified at Bedford to
represent the province at the Dominion Rifle Shoot at Ottawa. At Bedord he placed 13th out of
125 competitors.

Thursday, July 30, 1942.
Due to the extreme shortage of gasoline, Mr. J. A. PATTERSON of Oxford, well-known salesman for
Rundle Products, has covered 1,500 miles by horse and wagon in the past six weeks on his
company's business.
Additional A.R.P. equipment arrived in Oxford during the past week, including two electric
sirens which were installed and tested on July 23.
Miss Rose KING, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George L. King, River Philip, has been serving as an
army nurse in Great Britain. She has been appointed matron of a Canadian Army Hospital in England.
