Dec. 10, 1997 Halifax Chronicle Herald:
MacLELLAN, Murlie Morris - 88, 76 Birchwood Rd., Oxford, died December 8, 1997, in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Lakelands, Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late George and Emma (Gilbert) MacLellan. He served overseas in the medical corps during the Second World War and worked in the farming, lumbering and blueberry industries. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his wife, the former Catherine (Katie) Rector; sons, Jerry, Truro; Larry, Oxford; daughters, Murlina (Mrs. Roy Mills), Springhill; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Winnie, Lila, Jean, Gurtie, Muriel. Visitation 3-5, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Thursday, both in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, 5075 Main St., Oxford, Rev. Kevin Smith officiating. Burial at a later date in Birch Grove Cemetery, Little River, Cumberland Co. Donations to Canadian Cancer Society or Birch Grove Cemetery.
