BENTLEY, John Marvin, Q.C. - 65, Halifax, passed away December 3, 2000, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Jack Bentley and Ida (Little) Bentley, Tatamagouche. Upon graduation from Dalhousie Law School in 1959, John practiced law in the Ottawa area for a number of years. He returned to Halifax to become the first Regional Director, Department of Justice Canada, Halifax Regional Office, a position he held until his retirement. He had both a federal and provincial Queen's Council bestowed upon him. He is survived by daughter, Carol Bentley, Halifax; son, J. Robert Bentley (Dr. Patricia Dauphinee), Wisconsin; grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer and Trevor Bentley, Wisconsin. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Carol June Turner. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home, 2032 Robie St., Halifax. Visitation today, December 6, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held Thursday, December 7, in Cruikshank's Chapel 10 a.m., Rev. Ron Clark officiating. Burial will be St. John's Cemetery with a reception to follow in Cruikshank's reception room. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
