OBITUARY: Mrs. Olney Grant
Parrsboro Shore, April 12 - Death claimed one of the oldest residents of
this place on Saturday last in the person of Emily Rachel, beloved wife of
Olney Grant. The deceased, who was 70 years of age, had been in failing
health for some years, but was only confined to her bed for a short time.
She was a woman of sterling character, beloved and respected by all who knew
her. The late Mrs. Grant, who was one of eleven children born to the late
Elijah and Jean Fowler of Diligent River, is survived by her husband, two
sisters, Miss Annie, of Parrsboro, and Mrs. Moses Witcome of Lynn, Mass; and
two brothers, Freeman, of Parrsboro, and Duncan, of Halifax. The funeral was
conducted at the home on Monday at 2 p.m., by Rev. H.S. Young of Advocate.
Rev. Mr. Young based his remarks on 1 Corinthians 15 - 55:57 and spoke in a
fitting manner. The hymns sung were: "Rock Of Ages", "Abide With Me" and
"Nearer My God To Thee". The pallbearers were Emery Allen, Otto Crossman,
Stanley MacAloney and Harley Crossman. Interment was in Fraserville
Cemetery.
