Pauline Halliday 1925-2012
It is with great sadness, the family of M. Pauline Halliday of New Glasgow, announces her passing. Surrounded by her family, Pauline passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital on Monday, September 3, 2012. She was born in Amherst on April 8, 1925. She retired from the former School for the Deaf in Amherst in 1985 and moved to New Glasgow to be near her family. Her family was so important to her. She had a wonderful talent and was a perfectionist at sewing and doing handiwork. She so enjoyed designing and altering ballet costumes with her granddaughter Janet. She also made many banners for her church. She loved animals and over the years gave and found a good home for many stray cats. She loved watching birds and the blue jays would take peanuts from her hand. She was a member of United Commercial Travellers (UCT), Women Alike and a faithful supporter of First United Church, Trenton. She has joined her mother Joanna
(Kellegrew) Halliday, father Edward and brothers Russell and Doug. She is survived by her daughter: Judy (Jim) Bradbury, New Glasgow; granddaughter: Janet (Fred Peters), Westville; the light of her life, her great grandchildren: William (4) and Cecelia (2); brothers: Jim (Eva), Trenton; Carl (Gerry), Truro. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her special aunt, Vera Kellegrew, Amherst (age 101). Pauline’s family are so grateful for the kind, compassionate care that was given to her by the nurses in Palliative Care and 5 South. Each one of you, along with Dr. Gerry Farrell, have touched our hearts and helped us through this journey. Our thanks to Dr. Barclay for his many years of caring for Pauline. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place from 7-9 pm Tuesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 1 pm Wednesday from First United Church, Trenton with Rev.
