I don't think the following obituary has been posted before:

Aug. 20, 1988 Halifax Chronicle Herald:
LOWTHER, John - 84, East Leicester, Cumberland County, died Tuesday at home.  Born in Millvale, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Albert E. and Mary Jane (Stonehouse) Lowther.  He spent his life in the farming and lumbering industries.  He was a lifetime resident of East and West Leicester.  He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Annie MacEachern, Port Elgin, N.B.; Mrs. Susan Mattinson, Beckwith, Cumberland County; Mrs. Ruby Boyles, Little River, Cumberland County; a brother, Elvie, West Leicester; several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Helen and Evelyn; three brothers, Robert (Robbie), Albert and Norman.  The body is in Allen Funeral Home, Oxford, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Rev. Blair Holden officiating.  Burial will be in Leicester Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Leicester Community Hall or any charity.
