Marguerite Marion Chapman (September 29, 1916 - August 31, 2012)
CHAPMAN (FARROW) MARGUERITE MARION “PEGGY”- 95, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, passed away peacefully Friday, August 31st, 2012 at Melville Gardens, Halifax. Peggy was born the daughter of the late Robert and Marion (Moore) Farrow in Oxford, Nova Scotia on September 29, 1916, and raised in Malagash Salt Mines. Most of her adult life she lived in Amherst with her late husband, Lee, surrounded by good friends and family. She enjoyed competitive bowling, playing cards and working their blueberry farm. Peggy was an excellent cook attending to the lunch counter at the Amherst Bowling Academy where her husband was partner, and working as a pastry chef at the Interprovincial School for the Deaf. She loved reading and created some masterful rug hooking works later in life. Her wit and good spirited humour brought others joy and happiness in her company. She is survived by her son, Bob (Beverly) Chapman, Halifax; granddaughters Tracey
(Stuart) Raftus, Toronto, Natalie (Jonathan) Meretsky, Halifax; great-grandchildren Walter, Harry, John and Michael Raftus, Toronto and Ida Meretsky, Halifax. She is also survived by her cousins, Marian (Moore) Howard, Vancouver, Norman Munroe, Moncton; nephew, Bill Farrow, and niece, Sally DeRuyter. She was predeceased by her husband, Lee, and brother, Charlie. Special thanks to Dr. Poranek and the excellent care giving team at Melville Gardens. Funeral services will be held in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, N.S., Friday, September 7th, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Ruth Gamble officiating. Family flowers only.
