Dec. 17, 1966 Halifax Chronicle Herald:
SPRINGHILL - Ambrose Isaac Lees, 91, died Thursday at Twin Elms Nursing Home, Springhill. Born in Spasford, England, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lees. Mr. Lees came to Canada with his parents as a boy and lived for a short time in Dominion, before coming to Springhill. He worked in the coal mines here for 56 years, retiring in 1947. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and a member of St. Andrew's-Wesley United Church. His wife, the former Annie Bagnell of Dominion, and a son, Douglas, are dead. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Daisy Taylor, Tatamagouche; Geneva (Mrs. Lawrence Gilroy), Springhill; three sons, Joseph, Pincher Creek, Alta.; Earl and Robert, Amherst. The body is at Brown's Funeral Home, where a service will be held tomorrow at 2, with Rev. S.P. Russell officiating. Interment will be in Hillside cemetery.
