Just located this on the 1871 Census which I feel is the same family.
Mary Hanning would have m/1 Capt. William F. Pettis sometime before 1871 and
thus is missing from this family unit. Their first child, son, Capt. Johnson
Renwick Pettis was born 22 Jun 1860.
