Obit (1984) - Arthur Robert SPENCE

June 9, 1984 Halifax Chronicle Herald:
SPRINGHILL - Arthur Robert Spence, 81, of Spruce Street, Springhill, died Thursday in All Saints Hospital, Springhill.  Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late William M. and Phoebe E. (Rushton) Spence.  He worked in the coal mining industry for 40 years and was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.  He is survived by two sons, Warren, Amherst and Darrell, Springhill; four sisters, Anna (Mrs. William Webb), Springhill; Constance (Mrs. Thomas Thompson); Bessie (Mrs. Joseph Robertson) and Helena (Mrs. Benjamin Lynster), all of New York, and five grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his wife, the former Jessie Maude Johnson; a son, Conrad; three sisters, Bertha, Eve and Elizabeth; three brothers, Harmon, Howard and Alvin, and two grandchildren.  The body is in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, where funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Rev. James Martell officiating, with burial in Mapleton Cemetery, Cumberland County.
