March 9, 1976 Halifax Chronicle Herald:
SPRINGHILL - Mrs. Arthur Spence, 74, of 212 McGee Street, died Monday in All Saints Hospital. Born in Little River, she was the former Jessie Maude Johnson, a daughter of the late Thomas and Evelyn (Dobson) Johnson. Surviving besides her husband, are: three sons, Conrad, Warren, both of Amherst; Darrel, Springhill; five grandchildren and two great-grandsons. She was predeceased by a sister and two grandchildren. The body is in the A.H. Brown Funeral Home, where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. James Martell officiating. Committal will be in Springhill receiving vault with spring burial in Mapleton Cemetery.
