Obit (1994) - Douglas John JEWKES

I don't think the following obituary has been posted before:

Feb. 25, 1994 Halifax Chronicle Herald:
JEWKES, Douglas John - 72, Senior Citizens Complex, Lower Herrett Road, Springhill, died February 24, 1994, in the complex.  Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Robert and Ina (Bigney) Jewkes.  His first 17 working years were spent as a miner in Springhill with Cumberland Railway and Coal Company.  The next 30 years he lived in Scarborough, Ont. and worked with the Alliance Canners: Pepsi-Cola, 7-Up and Orange Crush Companies.  After retirement in 1987, he returned to Springhill.  He is survived by his wife, the former June Juanita McCormick; son, Randall, Springhill; brother, Garnet, Springhill; a granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by four brothers, William, Robert Jr., Raymond, Roy.  Cremation has taken place.  A graveside committal service will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, Rev. Gordon Sutherland officiating.
