JACKSON, Avery Weldon - 75, East Leicester, Cumberland Co., died March 15, 1998, in High View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born January 18, 1923, in Lorneville, he was a son of the late George W. and Ellen A. (Feltham) Jackson. As a young man he was employed in the lumbering industry and later was self-employed as a farmer and operated his own sugar woods, making maple products. Although farming was his main occupation, throughout his lifetime, he also worked as a carpenter in the local area until his retirement. Surviving are his wife, the former Olive M. Carter; daughters, Faye Kavalak, Springhill; Heather Milner, Salem, Cumberland Co.; Joyce Carscadden, Amherst; Ruth Hudson, East Leicester; Sylvia Baker, Northport, Cumberland Co.; Joan Porteous, Winnipeg, Man.; Donna Jackson, Sackville, N.B.; Lorna Funk, Calgary, Alta.; Eleanor Leadbetter, Edmonton, Alta.; son, Walter, East Leicester; sisters, Mrs. Lillian Turner, Mrs. Pearl Gallant, Amherst;
Mrs. Margaret Haynes, Tidnish, Cumberland Co.; Mrs. Evelyn Haynes, Lorneville; brother, John, Chapman Settlement, Cumberland Co.; 32 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter, Shirley; a daughter and son in infancy; sisters, Viola Locke, Annie Noiles; brother, Alfred. Visitation this afternoon and evening in Allen's Funeral Home, Oxford. Funeral 1 p.m. Wednesday in Little River United Baptist Church, Rev. Kevin Smith officiating. Burial in Mansfield Cemetery. Donations to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Little River United Baptist Church memorial fund, Mansfield Cemetery or any charity.
