SPRINGHILL - Renford R. Smith, 70, of Herrett Road, Springhill, died Saturday at home. Born in Rodney, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Pillot and Annie (Taylor) Smith. Besides his wife, the former Sarah Rose Hunter, he is survived by seven daughters, Elsie (Mrs. Robert Smith), Owen Sound, Ont.; Phyllis (Mrs. R. Ashley Lloyd), Susan (Mrs. Rod Black), both of Moncton; Ruby (Mrs. Gary Pahel), Ellsworth, Me.; Mrs. Bonnie Cloney, Waltham, Mass.; Loretta (Mrs. Roy McLellan), Woodstock, N.B.; Jill, at home; one son, Reginald, Moncton; 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace (Mrs. Joseph Lees), Pincher Creek, Alta.; two brothers, Clifford and Thomas, both of Springhill; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Vesta Mills; and by four brothers and five sisters. The body is at A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Harry Ward
officiating. Interment will be in Rodney cemetery.
