Feb. 25, 1988 Halifax Chronicle Herald:
HUNTER, Lorne Rhodes - 75, Leamington, Cumberland County, died Wednesday in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Rodney, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Abram A. and Gladys Jane (Stevens) Hunter. He was a member and past master of Loyal Orange Lodge 1611, past preceptor of Mt. Carmel RBB 294, and a Springhill Red Cross member. He was a laborer most of his life, having worked in lumbering and farming, and with the CNR and the Department of Highways. He is survived by his wife, the former Hazel Vivian Canning, a daughter, Esmeralda (Essie) (Mrs. Nelson Rushton), Leamington; five sons, Gary and Vaughn, both of Leamington; Cleave, Mapleton; Lester, Springhill; Eric, Valley Road; a brother, Barney, Moncton; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Jane Scott, Claremont; Mrs. Margaret Gordon, Black River Road; 13 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by a brother, MacLean, and a sister, Ruth Mills. The body is in A.H. Brown Funeral Home,
Springhill, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Max Nesbitt officiating. Spring burial will be in Leamington Cemetery. Donations may be made to any charity.

HUNTER, Hazel Vivian - 64, Leamington, Cumberland County, died Saturday in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Esmeralda (Smith) Canning. She was an adherent of United Church of Canada. She was a member of Pythian Star Temple No. 8, Lady Minto Rebekah Lodge No. 23 and Nomads of Avrudaka El Shebah No. 21. She is survived by a daughter, Esmeralda (Mrs. Nelson Rushton), Leamington; five sons, Gary, Vaughn, both of Leaminton; Eric, Valley Road, Cumberland County; Cleve, Mapleton; Lester, Springhill; a sister, Helen (Mrs. Gordon Stevens), Williamsdale, Cumberland County; two brothers, Hilton, Toronto; Kenneth, Dorchester, N.B.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Lorne R. Hunter; a brother, Ronald; a brother in infancy. The body has been cremated. The family will receive visitors at A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill 7-9 p.m. today, at which time
there will be a lodge service, and from where funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Rev. Edward Moase officiating. Burial will be in Leamington Cemetery. Donations may be made to any charity.
