Joan A. MacDonald 1935-2012
Joan A. MacDonald, former resident of Amherst, Nova Scotia passed away in Toronto on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the age of 77.  Her Family and Friends are mourning her loss.  The youngest daughter of the late Wilfred L. MacDonald and Fern (Estabrooks).  She was born and educated in Amherst.  She attended St. Charles Elementary and High School and St. Charles Commercial School.  She graduated in 1953 with first class honours. After working in Amherst for several years at the Bank of Nova Scotia and Robb Engineering she moved to Toronto in 1959 where she was employed at IBM, Honeywell, TetraPak and finally the Ontario Secondary Teacher's Federation where she retired from in 1999.  While living in Amherst, Joan was very active in school and business activities.  Her interests included bowling, basketball.  She also acted in the many plays and operettas conducted by the nuns at St. Charles school. Joan was predeceased by her sisters Edith Colson,
Mildred Huckle, Geraldine Cooke and Eileen Carmichael.  She is survived by her sister Marion Wood.
