Obituary: Dency Monahan
Passed on: September 7th, 2008
82, Sydney River Dency Monahan, 82, of Causeway Drive, formerly of New
Waterford, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at Ray MacIsaac¹s
Guest Home, South Bar. Born in Inverness, she was the daughter of the late
James and Sarah (MacArthur) MacInnis. Early in her life, Dency spent many
happy years working at the theaters in New Waterford. After marrying the
love of her life, Hugh, she devoted her time to being a wife and they spent
47 wonderful years together. She enjoyed life, especially dancing with Hugh.
Dency was a devoted mother to Dawn. She was involved in many activities,
such as, Brownie Leader, Y¹smenettes, yoga with Ruth Boutilier, longtime
member of Lingan Golf Club and Sydney Curling Club. She is survived by
daughter and best friend, Dawn (Mike) Reppa; sisters, Florence (Al)
Homeniuk, Kaye MacInnis; and brother, Russell (Bev). She was predeceased by
her husband, ***Hugh*** and brothers, John, Owen, Alex and James. Visitation
for the late Mrs. Monahan will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on
Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated
Thursday at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church with Rev. Donald MacGillivary
officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Donations may be
made to the Alzheimer's Society, C.B. Palliative Care or the Holy Redeemer
Parish Building Fund. Online condolences may be sent to
