OBITUARY
20-YEAR AMHERST FIREMAN, 54, DIES
AMHERST - Laurie Harold Ripley, 54, of 13 Summer St. died suddenly at home Monday evening. He had not previously been seriously ill.
He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Ripley of Amherst, formerly of Fenwick. He was born in Fenwick, but lived in Amherst most of his life.
He was employed at Robb Engineering Works as a welder and burner for a long period, except for a short time when he operated a service station at Fenwick.
Mr. Ripley attended Trinity-St. Stephens United Church and was a former member of Chignecto Lodge No. 11. Knights of Pythias. He was a member of the Amherst Fire Department for over 20 years, having retired several years ago.
He is survived by his wife, the former Beulah Rushton of Amherst; two sons, Jack and Terry, both of Amherst; three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Rushton, Amherst; Gladys (Mrs. Willis Rushton), Lynn, Mass.; Grace (Mrs. Michael Dunden), Kingston, Ont.; one brother Johnson Ripley of Amherst; and four grandchildren.
His body is at Furlong's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held from the funeral home.
