OBITUARY: Mrs. Abram McCully
Mrs. Clodine Augusta McCully passed away at her home on January 22 after a
lengthy illness just one week after the passing of her husband, the late
Capt. Abram McCully. Born in Port Greville, she was the daughter of the late
Edward and Elizabeth (Merriam) Cole and was eighty-four years old in
November of last year. Left to mourn the loss of a mother are eight
daughters, Flossie (Mrs. Norman MacKie), Halifax; Margaret (Mrs. Randolph
Hiltz) and Eva (Mrs. Arthur Evans), both of Chester; Blanche (Mrs. Ronald
Forsythe), Amherst; Stella (Mrs. Henry Robinson), Reta (Mrs. Richard
Lambert), Marion (Mrs. John Akerley), Evelyn (Mrs. Percy Kerr) and two sons,
Leslie, who made his home with his parents, and Herbert, all of Port
Greville. One daughter, Leota (Mrs. Medley Cochrane) predeceased her parents
some years ago. One sister, Mrs. Annie Harrington, Parrsboro and one
brother, Oreion Cole of Saint John, N.B.[possibly missing are the words,
"also survive"] The funeral service was held at the Grace United Church on
Friday, January 25, with the Rev. H. Wieler officiating. Hymns sung by a
mixed choir were: "Crown Him With Many Crowns" and "Abide With Me".
Interment was in Grace United Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Capt. Abram McCully
Capt. Abram McCully passed away very suddenly on January 15, at Bay View
Memorial Hospital, Advocate. Having entered the hospital only the night
before, his passing came as a great shock to his family and many friends.
Born at Port Greville, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Emerson
McCully and was eighty-six years old in October of last year. As a Captain,
Mr. McCully traveled on the seas for a good many years, later working with
the carpenters at the shipyard of Wagstaff and Hatfield before retiring a
few years ago. Left to mourn the loss of a father are eight daughters,
Flossie (Mrs. Norman Mackie), Halifax; Margaret (Mrs. Randolph Hiltz) and
Eva (Mrs. Arthur Evans), both of Chester; Blanche (Mrs. Ronald Forsythe),
Reta (Mrs. Richard Lambert), Marion (Mrs. John Kerr), all of Port Greville;
two sons, Leslie, who lived at home with his parents; and Herbert, also of
Port Greville; two sisters, Emma (Mrs. Blanchard Ells), Halifax; and Lillian
(Mrs. William O'Toole), Port Greville; six brothers, Harry, Robert, Sherman,
Port Greville; Havelock, Halifax; Hardy, Parrsboro; and Morton, U.S.A.
Funeral service was held from Grace United Church on Thursday afternoon,
July 17, with the Rev. H. Wieler officiating. Hymns sung by a mixed choir,
with Mrs. Harold Wilson in charge were: "Thou Art The Way" and "When The
Day's Toil Is Done". Interment was in the Church Cemetery.
