Thelma Grace McArthur 1913-2011
Thelma Grace McArthur 98 years of Lincoln, NB and formerly of
Springhill, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, in Oromocto
Public Hospital, Oromocto, N. B. Born in Collingwood, she was a
daughter of the Late Guy Bruce and Myrtle (Austin) Gilroy. Thelma was a
member of Springhill Baptist Church and an adherent of Lincoln United
Church where she resided with her son Edward since 1999. She will be
sadly missed by 3 sons, Edward (Georgina), Lincoln,NB, Lloyd,
Saskatoon, SK and Gordon (Donna), Kentville; two daughters, Lillian
(Ian) Lockhart, Erin, ON and Loretta Turnbull, Garson, ON; son-in-law,
George Henwood, Harvey, NB 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and
10 great great grandchildren; sister, Helen Wilson, Caperol, ON.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Alfred, a
daughter, Norma, 4 brothers, Floyd, Merle, Russell and Morton, 2
sisters, Beatrice and Evelyn and daughter-in-law, Joan. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5
McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) where visitation will be
held Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. Funeral service
will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, October 17, 2011 from the Springhill
Baptist Church, 47 Church Street, Springhill, with The Reverend Brent
MacDonald officiating and assisted by The Reverend Jamie MacArthur.
Burial in Rodney Cemetery, Cumb. Co., N. S. If so desired, donations
in Thelma's memory may be made to the Springhill Baptist Church

HENWOOD, NORMA OLIVIA Norma O. Henwood of Harvey, NB passed away January
13, 2007 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born at Springhill, NS in
1936, she was a daughter of Thelma G. (Gilroy) McArthur and the late
Alfred McArthur. Norma loved dancing and the fiddle doo's, gardening and
growing flowers which she shared with everyone, reading stories and
especially her Bible. Even with her failing eyesight, she enjoyed making
her handicrafts. Norma enjoyed her trailer at the beach in Pugwash, NS
and driving anywhere in the car with George at the wheel. 'Chicky, gonna
miss ya babe.' Norma is survived by her husband, George T. Henwood; a
son, G. Alfred Henwood, Abbotsford, BC; a daughter, Janet Lee Smith
(David), Pictou, NS; her mother, Thelma Grace McArthur of Lincoln; three
grandchildren, Nathan Smith (Cindy), Edmonton, AB, Travis Smith,
Calgary, AB and Dusti Willow Henwood, Langley, BC; two sisters, Lillian
Lockhart (Ian), Erin, ON and Loretta Turnbull, Garson, ON; three
brothers, Edward McArthur (Georgina), Lincoln, Lloyd McArthur,
Saskatoon, SK and Gordon McArthur (Donna), Kentville, NS; several nieces
and nephews. Resting at Swan Funeral Home, 1826 Route 3, Harvey Station
with visiting hours Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service
will be held at Oromocto Baptist Church, Doyle Drive, Oromocto on
Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Jeff Benson
officiating. Interment will be later at Rodney Cemetery, Springhill, NS.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Norma, the family has
suggested the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian National
