OBITUARY: Mrs. Evelyn D. Atkinson
Advocate Harbour - Mrs. Evelyn Davison Atkinson, 68, died at home in
Advocate Harbour. Mrs. Atkinson was born in New Salem on 4 December 1899,
the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Shirley. She received her
education and married in Apple River. Mrs. Atkinson was a member of the
United Church of Canada and Easter Lily Lodge No. 282. The marriage was
blessed with seven daughters and three sons; Ruby (Mrs. Edward Trerise),
Vancouver, B.C.; Marguerite (Mrs. Kenneth Canning), Parrsboro; Ardis (Mrs.
Merrill Sheffield), North Sydney; Carmen (Mrs. Raymond Oulton), Los Angeles,
Cal.; Meredith (Mrs. Fred Crossman), Brockville, Ont.; Ruth (Mrs. Freeman
Beardsley), River Hebert; Miss Muriel Atkinson, Ont.; Ronald, Shirley and
Willis, all of Ont. Also surviving are a sister, Georgie (Mrs. Harold
Fraser), Apple River; and one brother, Alton Shirley, Apple River; 16
grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The funeral service was in the
United Baptist Church, Advocate, with the Rev. Calhoune officiating.
Interment was in Advocate Cemetery.
