R. Elizabeth (Betty) Porter 1923-2011
It is with heartfelt sadness the family of R. Elizabeth (Betty) Porter,
age 88, announce her passing at the Gable's Lodge, Amherst on Thursday,
October 6, 2011. Born in Warren she was a daughter of the late David
and Lucy (Anderson) Trenholm and the last surviving member of her
immediate family. Mum was a long time employee of Goodwin's Super
Market where she made many long lasting friends and will be fondly
remembered by her many close friends and family. She was a member of
Trinity St. Stephen's United Church, Amherst. Mum will be sadly missed
by her daughters, Jeannette (Boyd) Morris, Brookdale, Marion (Dale)
Murray, Moncton; sons, Richard (Shirley Ann), Hastings, and Floyd
(Laureen), Louisdale, Cape Breton, NS; grandchildren, Karlene, Krista,
Jennifer, Kraig, Rodney, Troy, Robert, Monica, Pierre, Jason, Dylan and
Kerry Rose as well as 16 great grandchildren many nieces and nephews and
her best friend Ruth Tattrie. She was predeceased by her husband,
Russell I. Porter and her daughter, Carol Porter, brothers, Maxwell,
Fred and Harvey and sisters, Jean Sargent, Grace Jewell, Kathleen and
Eleanor Trenholm and Mildred Trueman. To honour Mum's wishes there will
be no funeral or visitation. Her family will hold a private celebration
of her life at a later date. Arrangements in care of the Furlong Jones
Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777). Donations in her memory to a charity
