Obit: Cox, Lt. Col. Burnell B., CD

Cox, Lt. Col. Burnell B., CD - August 2, 1921 - February 25, 2006. Lt. Col. Burnell Burnie B. Cox CD (retired), life member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologist and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA), passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the age of 84 years. Burnie graduated from Nova Scotia Tech in 1944 and joined the Canadian Armed Forces - Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers (RCEME). He served in Korea in 1954 and Egypt from 1957 to 1958. Burnie was the first Commanding Officer of the 1st Service Battalion in Calgary from 1968 - 1970. Retiring from the military in 1971, he was employed with Trans Alta Utilities in the Fleet Department from 1972 until his retirement in 1982. He was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion - Centennial Branch No. 285. He is predeceased by an infant daughter in 1951 and son Bradley James in a 1987 motorcycle accident. He will be sadly missed by his wife Edna Marion; son, Burnell Burnie Jr.; daughter-in-law, Sheila; grandchildren, Ashley, Paige, Jameson and Graham; and sister, Audrey Simpson of Amherst, Nova Scotia.
