OBITUARY: Dewis Ross
SPRINGHILL - Dewis Ross, 70, of Junction Road, Springhill, died Thursday at
home. Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late Thomas and Margaret
(Ayles) Ross. He was a coal miner for 18 years. He is survived by his wife,
the former Marjorie E. Mattix; one son, James, Springhill; two daughters,
Bonnie, (Mrs. Robert Keirstead), Saint John; Diane (Mrs. Boyd Copp), Prince
George, B.C.; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son,
William; one granddaughter; two brothers, Otis and Thomas, and a sister,
Annie. The body is at A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, where funeral
service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m., Rev. Harry Ward officiating.
Committal will be in Springhill receiving vault with burial in Hillside
cemetery at a later date.

Funeral - Valerie Denise Copp
Parrsboro - The death of Valerie Denise Copp, occurred at her home,
Parrsboro, N.S. suddenly on Friday, November 11th. The only child of Mr. and
Mrs. Boyd Copp, she was born in All Saint's Hospital, Springhill on August
6, 1960. Left to mourn her passing are her mother and father; grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Copp, of Parrsboro, and Mr. and Mrs. Dewis Ross, of
Springhill. The remains rested at Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro until
Sunday, when they were forwarded to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dewis Ross and
there the funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, November 14th. The
services were conducted by Capt. Bruce Harcourt of the Springhill Salvation
Army, who was assisted by the Salvation Army Choir. The hymns sung were:
"Gentle Jesus, Meek And Mild" and "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus". The pall
bearers were Douglas Vance and William Vance. Interment was made in Hillside
Cemetery.
