Joan Levenia Gilbert (February 14, 1936 - September 28, 2011)
Gilbert, Joan L. - 74, Oxford, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011
in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Oxford, she
was the daughter of the late Renforth and Clara (Allen) Simpson. She
lived on various air force bases with her husband, where she held
clerical positions. Joan worked at East Cumberland Lodge and also cared
for people in her home. She loved her dogs and enjoyed her family. Joan
is survived by her husband of 55 years, Allison Gilbert; daughter, JoAnn
(Richard) Chapman, Cambridge; son, Randy (Valerie), Oxford;
grandchildren, Jerrad (Kara) Gilbert, Brandy (Mike Bishop) Gilbert, Jodi
Rae (Peter) MacCallum, Jennifer (Raymond) Chaisson, Michael (Tina)
Chapman, Tracy Lynn (Mark) Tracey; twelve great-grandchildren. She was
predeceased by brothers, Rod and Edward. Arrangements have been
entrusted to MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, 5075 Main Street, Oxford
(447-2930). A private family funeral service will be held. Donations may
be made to the L.A. Animal Shelter or a charity of choice. Private
