Regarding Oswal / Oswald Slack:
On her website, Jane Wile had listed 7 children for Alvard Slack & Ella Cove, including:
Oswal Slack, male, married Helen Patriquin d/o William Garnet Patriquin (b 27-Nov-1881) & Elizabeth Rogers
[I'm not sure if Jane spelled him as Oswal or if I made a typo. GFM]
Jane's listing appears correct - the following obituary from the Nov 13, 1992 Herald lists a Helen Slack (nee Patriquin):
McLEOD, Gladys Oneta - 82, Folly Mountain, Colchester County, died November 10, 1992, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Folly Mountain, she was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Rogers) Patriquin. She was a lifetime resident of Folly Mountain and member of the United Church. She is survived by her companion, Kenneth Blair; two sons, Robert, Hyde Park, Mass.; Wayne, East Mines, Colchester County; six daughters, Barbara Smith, Shirley O'Brien, Rose (Mrs. Fred Gamble), all of Londonderry, Colchester County; Marjorie (Mrs. Gerald Porter), Cocoa, Fla.; Diane (Mrs. Carmen Milner), Debert, Colchester County; Betty (Mrs. James LeBlanc), Santa Rosa, Calif.; two brothers, Ralph, Raymond, both of Folly Mountain; two sisters, Mildred Norcross, Waltham, Mass.; ***Helen Slack***, Oshawa, Ont.; 32 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; a greatgreat-grandchild. The body is in Mattatall Funeral Home, Truro, where funeral will be 2 p.m. today,

And here is another obituary that I found through Google suggesting that Helen had returned to Nova Scotia by 2010:
Patriquin, Ralph Elroy - 92, Londonderry/Oshawa, passed
away April 27, 2010 in Bowmanville Hospital, Ontario. Born in Folly Mountain, he
was a son of the late William and Elizabeth (Rogers) Patriquin. Ralph was a
veteran of the Second World War and retired from General Motors in Oshawa,
Ontario. After retiring from the Motors, Ralph moved back to Nova Scotia where
he bought a property and lived happily for many years. Surviving are son, Ron
(Leslie), Oshawa, Ont.; daughter, Dawn (Frank) Gulenchyn, Oshawa, Ont.;
grandsons, Johnathan and Ryan, Mathew; sister, ***Helen Slack, Truro***; sister
in-law, Helen Patriquin, Folly Mountain; many nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by wife, Wilda; brother, Raymond; sisters, Gladys and Mildred. No
visitation by request. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 4 at 2
p.m., in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev.
Dan Gunn officiating. A reception will follow the service. Interment in Folly
Mountain Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in Ralph’s memory may be made
to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of your personal

I¹ve got Jeanette Belle and Gladys Margaret as daughters of Annie Emma
Atkinson. Believe the latter daughter is Alvard/Alvord¹s that¹s possibly
why he later married Annie Emma Atkinson the next year. The father of the
former daughter is unknown at this time.
I¹m not sure where Louis Slack and Oswald? Slack fit.
I¹ve also got the names, Charles S. Slack, Lenahe? Slack, John Slack, Daniel
Slack and Willis Slack (Wylie?) with no documentation as to where they fit.
Needs some more work for sure.
