1909 death - Elizabeth Jane Mattinson (nee Orchard)

According to family stories, 73 year-old Elizabeth Jane Mattinson (nee Orchard) was picking up coal that had dropped along the railway tracks near her home in Thomson/Thomson Station.  Because she had become deaf in her later years, she did not hear an approaching train nor the warnings of family members and, tragically, she was struck and killed when hit by the train.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a death registration to confirm this story.  She died at Thomson / Thomson Station on Aug. 30 1909 and may have been listed as Mrs. Edward Mattinson.

I don't know if there are any surviving issues of the Oxford Journal for this time period.  If someone has access to these issues, could you see if there is an article covering this tragedy?

Thank you for your assistance,
Gerry
