My statement was based on the 1932 N.B. marriage record whereby the document
is filled out as Joseph Regis Melanson and the groom signed the document as
Joseph Regis Melanson. Perhaps the family didn¹t like Regis and switched to
using Richard? Her mother¹s obit also says Richard.
In my file, I¹ll add a note to the fact there is some question as to his
middle name; Richard or Regis. Perhaps we need a baptismal record to be
sure.
