OBITUARY:
Martin, Marion P. - 33 Junction Rd., Springhill, died Tuesday in All Saint's
Hospital, Springhill. Born in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late
Robert and Sadie (Parsons) Anderson. She was a member of All Saint's
Anglican Church, Springhill. She is survived by her husband, Byron; a son,
Robert, Springhill; two sisters, Evelyn (Mrs. Frank Whitfield), Victoria,
B.C.; Audrey (Mrs. Edward Ginley), New Minas; two brothers, Cecil,
Parrsboro; Patrick, Ajax, Ont.;two grandchildren. The body is at Smith's
Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where a private family service will be held 4 p.m.,
today. Burial will be in St. George's Cemetery, Parrsboro. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

MARTIN, Byron I. "Barney" - 89, Springhill, Cumberland Co., passed away
peacefully Monday, March 27, 2006, in Cumberland Regional Health Care
Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Everett
and Ethel (Hawker) Martin. He was a retired coal miner having worked at the
No. 2 Colliery, Springhill, for more than 18 years. During the "bump of
1958", he was trapped for nine days in the mine. He was later employed at
the All Saints Hospital Springhill for 12 years retiring in 1981. He was a
member of All Saints Church, Springhill, for many years. He is survived by
son, Robert (Myrna), Oxford; brother, Clayton, British Columbia;
grandchildren, Robert, Springhill; Derrick, Amherst; two
great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Marion
Anderson; sister, Jennie; brothers, George, Frederick, Everett "Simmie",
Earl. Visitation 1-2 p.m. Thursday (March 30, 2006) in Smith's Funeral Home,
Parrsboro, followed by funeral at 2 p.m., Rev. Elizabeth Davies officiating.
Burial in St. George's Anglican Cemetery, Parrsboro. Memorial donations may
be made to a charity of choice.
