WEDDING: DeBaie - Meekins
A quiet wedding took place at All Saint's Rectory on Wednesday, February 3
at 2:30 p.m., when Rev. W.M. Knickle united in marriage Doreen Virginia
Meekins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Meekins and William Joseph DeBaie,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick DeBaie. The bride wore a street length dress of
brown crepe with accessories to correspond. She was attended by the groom's
sister, Mrs. Charles Barrett and Mr. Barrett supported the groom. At six
o'clock, a wedding supper was served at the home of the groom's parents with
immediate relatives to the contracting parties in attendance. The groom, who
served over two years with the N.N.S.H. And overseas with the West Nova
Scotia Regiment, received his honorable discharge in November. Mr. and Mrs.
DeBaie, who have the best wishes of their many friends will reside on Queen
Street.

OBITUARY: Mrs. Harold Putnam
Brookfield - Mrs. Harold Putham, 46, died Tuesday in Halifax Infirmary. Born
in Springhill, she was the former Doreen Meekins, a daughter of Mrs. Mabel
(White) Meekins and the late John Meekins. She was a member of Knox United
Church. Besides her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Diane (Mrs.
Harold Milton), Sackville, N.B.; two sons, Erle and Harold Jr., both at
home; four sisters, Norma (Mrs. Joe Richard), Mary (Mrs. Jack Powell),
Thelma (Mrs. Alpheus Pike) and Dorithy (Mrs. John Poter [sic]), all of
Springhill; a brother, James, Dartmouth; and two grandchildren. The body is
in Mattatall's Funeral Home, Truro. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday.

Brookfield - Funeral service for Mrs. Harold Putnam will be held 2 p.m.,
