OBITUARY
The death of Joseph F. Martin occurred suddenly at his home here early Friday morning. Although
in failing health since last fall, and being a patient for three months in Springhill hospital
and the Victoria General in Halifax, during the past few months he has been about his shop in
his home and was at work on Thursday. Born in Tignish, P.E.I., seventy nine years ago he was
the last member of the family of the late Firmin and Gertrude Richard Martin. Surviving are his
widow, the former Angelina Theriault of Loggieville, N.B., and two daughters Pte. Elizabeth
Martin, C.W.A.C. stationed in Halifax and (Margaret) Mrs. Carl F. Work of Portland, Maine. Also
one grandson. The funeral mass was held at St. Brigid's Roman Catholic Church at nine o'clock
yesterday morning, Rev. J.P. Mackey officiating. Interment was made in the R.C. Cemetery.
