Westville - Wm. Dale Urquhart. It is with great sadness that the family
announces the death of Wm. Dale Urquhart, age 66, of Spring Garden Road,
Westville, Nova Scotia, on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the VG Hospital,
Halifax, with his family by his side. Dale was born in Montreal, on October
16, 1944 to the late William and Agnes Isabel (MacRae) Urquhart, of
Dunvegan, Ontario. Dale grew up in Glengarry County, Ontario and lived and
worked in the heating business in Ottawa before moving to Nova Scotia in
1976. He was employed as an Oil Burner Technician with G. A. Shaw Fuels,
More Sheet Metals and D. & L. Heating Services Limited until his retirement.
Dale enjoyed music and spent many hours playing his fiddle. He enjoyed
bluegrass music and attended many festivals over the years. He was a member
of Branch 35, Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by his loving wife,
Linda Gail (Skidmore), Westville; daughter Cindy Lou Larson, Cole Harbour,
NS; granddaughter Morgan Claffey (Matt) Ottawa; grandson Rowan Larson, Cole
Harbour; sisters-in-law: Karen (Jules) Lahaie, Thompson, Manitoba; Catherine
(Gerard) Callahan, Prince George, BC; brothers-in-law: Bill Skidmore,
Riverton; Richard (Ian) Skidmore, New Glasgow; Kerry (Darlene) Skidmore,
Calgary, Alberta; and Philip (Theresa) Skidmore, Wainwright, Alberta;
cousins: Jean MacLeod (Donald Ian), Alexandria, Ontario; Ray MacMonagle,
Kamloops, BC; Norman Urquhart, Montreal, Quebec; and extended family, the
Jack¹s of East River St. Mary¹s. His remains are resting at the R.H. Porter
Funeral Home, New Glasgow, with visitation 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday, May 25,
2011. Cremation to follow. Memorial Service will be at 2 pm Thursday, May
26, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home with Archdeacon Peter Armstrong
officiating. Reception will follow at Branch 35, the Royal Canadian Legion,
Westville. Committal service will be at Christ Anglican Church Cemetery at a
later time. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Palliative
Care of the Aberdeen Hospital or a charity of your choice. Condolences at:
