WEDDING
MACPHERSON - MCWHIRTER
AMHERST - A pretty wedding took place at Trinity-St. Stephen's United Church when Connie Elizabeth, daughter of Mrs. Ruby McWhirter, and David Francis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer MacPherson, of Windsor, Nova Scotia, where united in marriage in a double ring ceremony performed by Rev. A. H. Moore, minister of the church.
Donald Carr played the nuptial music and accompanied the soloist, Mrs. H. B. Ettinger.
The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Harvie McWhirter Jr., wore a floor-length gown of white nylon sheer over taffeta with lace appliques and tiny bows scattered over the skirt. The lace bodice had a scalloped neckline and long tapering sleeves. Her elbow length veil of bridal illusion was held in place by a halo of nylon flowers. She carried a bouquet of red roses and white carnations.
The matron of honor, Mrs. Gordon Helm, sister of the bride, and the bridesmaids, Miss Sheila McWhirter, sister of the bride, and Miss Charlotte Bryden of Grafton, Nova Scotia, wore street length dresses of nylon over taffeta in shades of pink and blue respectively. The matron of honor carried a bouquet of yellow roses and white carnations, and the bridesmaids, nosegays of roses and carnations.
The flower girl, Patricia Helm, was in blue nylon with halo of pink roses and carried a basket of spring flowers.
The groom was attended by his brother, Reid MacPherson of Windsor. The ushers were Ray MacDonald and Andre Desjardins of Sydney and Ray Weatherby of Halifax.
Following the ceremony a reception was held in Heartz Hall. Mr. and Mrs. MacPherson left on a wedding trip to various parts of Nova Scotia, the bride travelling in a two piece suit of pink linen with beige accessories and corsage of white carnations. The couple will reside in Sydney.
