Percy Leander "Perry" Taylor, 86, of Nashua died at Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare on Monday December 31, 2007 after a lengthy illness. He was born in River Herbert, Nova Scotia, MA on October 10, 1921, a son of the late George Leander and Lucy Rebecca (Canning) Taylor. He was raised in Cambridge, MA until joining the United States Navy in September 1940 until his honorable discharge in August 1952. He was a Fitter 1st Class and Deep Sea Diver, who served aboard the USS San Francisco, USS Okala ARS(T)-2 and the USS Cebu ARG-6. He was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor Invasion of 1941 while aboard the USS San Francisco. He also was the recipient of American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Defense Medal, American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation, the nation's highest unit award for outstanding performance in action. He had worked as a Quality Assurance Technician for the Polaroid Corporation. He retired in 1981 after 28 years of service. Percy married Theresa Florence (Jacques) Taylor in Cambridge in 1947. They lived and raised three children in Billerica and Chelmsford, MA. They also resided in Sebago Lake, Maine, Gorham, Merrimack and then Nashua. In addition to his devoted wife of 61 years Terry Taylor of Nashua, survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Emile Gagnon of Nashua, a son and daughter-in-law, George Taylor and Kimberly LeFleur of Hudson, and a daughter and son-in-law, Jean (f.k.a. Morton) and John Snell of Waltham, MA; three grandchildren, SPC George Taylor of TX, Adam Morton of MA and Wendy Graves of AK; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Medor of FL and Gertrude Powers of MA; and his nieces and nephews. SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held at Davis Funeral Home, One Lock Street, Nashua on Friday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester St., Nashua on Saturday morning at Eleven o'clock. Interment prayers and burial will follow in Tewksbury Cemetery, Tewksbury, MA.
