James Richard (October 7, 1934 - January 25, 2011)
James Joseph Clarence Richard age 76, of Amherst passed away Tuesday,
January 25, 2011 at home. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late
Amedie and Emma (Comeau) Richard. Jimmy worked with Elliott's Amusements
for 25 years, Chapman Brothers Beverages for 9 years, Royal Canadian
Legion Br. #10, Amherst for 2 years and Wendell Elliott's hot dog stand.
He was the best ticket seller in the Town of Amherst. Jimmy is survived
by his brother Ross (Elly) Richard of Amherst and several nieces and
nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters Edna Carter,
Elise Depres, Reta Pfinder, Winnifred Taylor, Mabel Kolbrack and Tillie
Robichaud and one brother Leon. Visitation will be held on Wednesday,
January 26, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8 p.m. all in
Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst, NS. Funeral Mass will be held on
Thursday at 10 a.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with
Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Interment will take place in the
spring in the St. Charles - Nativity Cemetery, Amherst. Donations in
Jimmy's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.

PFINDER, Reta Mary - 78, of 3 Fullerton Street, Amherst, passed away
peacefully on Sunday, March 4, 2001, at her home. Born in Amherst, she
was a daughter of the late Amedee and Emma (Comeau) Richard. She was a
member of Saint Charles Roman Catholic Church, Amherst. She was very
active in community affairs and was well known as a canvasser for many
causes. She loved bowling, belonging to both the Ladies League and the
Mixed League for over 25 years. She is survived by daughters, Iris Black
(Archie) of Shinimicas, Michelle Reid (Greg) of Halifax; sons, Rick
(Bonnie) of Toronto, Ont., Gary of Dartmouth, Chuck (Kora) of Ottawa,
Ont.; daughter-in-law, Connie Pfinder of Toronto, Ont.; sisters, Tillie
Robichaud of Amherst; brothers, James of Amherst, Ross (Elly) of
Chateauguay, Que. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased her
husband, George "Bo"; sons, Paul and Peter in infancy, George; sisters,
Mabel Kerbrat, Elsie Despres, Edna Carter, Winnifred Taylor; and a
brother, Leon. Her remains are resting at Furlong's Funeral Home,
Amherst with visiting hours today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday
from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Parish prayers will be held at the funeral home
today at 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at Saint Charles Church on
Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Burial will
be in the Saint Charles-Nativity Cemetery later in the spring. Memorial
donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Canadian Cancer
Society or charity of your choice.
