OBITUARY: Basil C. Brown
Joggins - Basil Clifford Brown, 72, Joggins, Cumberland County, died Friday
in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Lower Cove, he was a
son of the late George and Edith (McQuarrie)[sic, McWhirter] Brown. He was a
miner, a veteran of the Second World War and a member of the Royal Canadian
Legion, Br. 4, Joggins. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived
by three daughters, Shirley (Mrs. Willard Bell) and Pearl, both of
Stratford, Ont.; Betty (Mrs. Larry MacLean), Amherst; two sons, Cecil and
Donnie, both of Joggins; six sisters, Ella Porter, River Hebert; Ruby Brown,
Joggins; Pearl Awale, Annie Distelrath, Grace Crawford, Ethel Craft, all of
Detroit, Mich.; 12 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. He was
predeceased by his wife, the former Bertha Wheaton; a sister, Stella; three
brothers, William, Charles and LeRoy. The body is in Campbell's Funeral
Home, Amherst. Funeral service will be Monday at 2 p.m., in Church of the
Holy Name, Joggins, Rev. David S. Myles officiating. Burial will be in River
Hebert Cemetery.
