Theresa Landry (June 17, 1927 - January 8, 2011)
It is with great sadness that the family of Theresa Emerice Landry age
83, of Amherst, announce her passing on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at
Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS. Born in
Nappan, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Ellen (MacDonald)
Bourgeois. In her younger years, Theresa worked for Fuller Brown and
Company in Amherst and Springhill and for 17 years she worked for
Margolians in Amherst. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Amherst
and a member of the CWL and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Theresa has
always remembered with great fondness the love of her life and soul mate
Paul W. Landry. Theresa dedicated her whole life to the service of
others. Family, friends, the elderly, shut-ins, St. Vincent de Paul
society, and the church were all dear to her heart and brought her great
joy. Anyone who entered her home was treated like family and most often
became an extended member. She was well known for her baking and
bartering, cookies for hugs and kisses. Her selfless ways has served as
a model for everyone who knew her, especially her family. She will be
sadly missed by her children Susan (Mike) Hennigar of Upper Sackville,
NS, Lana (Philip) White of Lower Sackville, NS, Terry (Larry) Cove of
Amherst and Wayne (Pat) of Brookdale, daughter-in-law, Nancy Sandford,
and 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Theresa's grandchildren added an immeasurable amount of pleasure to her
life along with her many special nieces and nephews. Besides her
parents, Theresa was predeceased by her husband Paul, son Marshall,
daughter Mary Ellen, sisters Winnifred Munroe, Yvonne McNutt, and Mary
Stewart and brothers William, Leon and Marshall. Visitation will be held
on Monday, January 10, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at
8 p.m. all from Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst. Funeral
Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic
Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Interment will
take place at a later date in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery,
Amherst. Memorial donations in Theresa's memory may be made to the St.
Vincent de Paul Society or the charity of your choice.
